Professional guitarist bio

Seth began performing as a professional guitarist at the age of 16, working as a leader and sideman around the Philadelphia area.

After relocating to the Los Angeles area, his versatility as a musician produced performances and recordings in jazz, classical, blues, rock, and pop genres.

His performance credits include Grammy and Golden Globe nominated singer-guitarist Frank Stallone,  Grammy-winning vocalist Nmon Ford,  virtuoso bassist Jennifer Leitham, and pop-rock vocalists Kuh Ledesma and Pops Fernandez.

In addition to jazz and popular music concerts, he performs classical recitals as a soloist as well as in duos and trios. Aside from performing throughout North America, Seth has performed in England, France, Poland, Italy, China, and Japan.

He continues to perform in virtually every musical setting ranging from solo guitar to large ensembles.

Music Education

Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Seth began his formal music education on the guitar at the age of 12 with Mark Burkert. One year later, he started taking lessons with Jazz Guitarist extraordinaire Jimmy Bruno. As Bruno's protégé, he spent the next seven years under Jimmy's tutelage. Interested in broadening his student's horizons, Bruno introduced a book authored by the great late-jazz pianist and educator Jimmy Amadie. This introduction led to a decade of improvisational and harmonic studies with Amadie.

Seth was awarded the sole guitar chair in the Pennsylvania All-State Jazz Band two years in a row (1992-94).

After graduating from high school, he was awarded a scholarship to the University of the Arts where he would complete his Bachelor's degree in jazz guitar performance in 1999. For the next four years, he kept a busy performing and teaching schedule. In 2003, he accepted a scholarship to the Claremont Graduate University to study with acclaimed guitarist-educator-luthier Jack Sanders. At Claremont Graduate University, he completed a Master's degree in classical guitar performance and a PhD in Musicology in 2009.
